Types of Screening

This is one of the most common tests. A tube with a light and camera is inserted into the rectum and sigmoid colon, along with air to keep the colon inflated enough to be easy to view. This lowers your chance of death from Colon Cancer by between 60 and 70%.
High-sensitivity fecal occult blood tests (FOBT)
This tests stool for blood. Sometimes, blood can be very minimal and hard to find in stool. Tumors can bleed very minimally into stool – so little that it might be undetectable to the human eye.
CT Scan / “Virtual” Colonoscopy
Computed tomographic colonography can be used to get a digital image of your colon and rectum without invasive measures. This can see if there are any polyps or tumors growing.
